WHO SHOULD SIGN UP?

This course caters to motivated individuals who are interested in developing unarmed combat skills specifically designed for FILM & TV as well as for stage. This 36 hour course is unique in both its content and its structure which allows students to retain more of what they learn due to revision, repetition and high level instruction.

This new program is a response to a request for ongoing and structured training, specifically at the beginner and intermediate levels. More and more actors are taking training more seriously in order to remain relevant in this competitive market as well as looking to do more of their own action work. These days, stunt coordinators have less time to train stunt people/actors so having more skills on your resume will most definitely give you a leg up on the competition.

Though Optional, we recommend certification for the following individuals:

  • Those who wish to attend an intermediate course in the future

  • Those in pursuit of a professional career in stunts

  • Those who wish to work towards becoming stage combat instructors

  • An actor looking to add a valuable and unique skill set to their resume

  • An athlete, dancer or physically-inclined person looking to build the basics required for stunt performers

  • Background performers looking to build skills needed for SSE gigs

  • Individuals looking to develop better timing and coordination while learning a new skill

  • Directors interested in learning how to prep and shoot realistic action and fight scenes for film and TV

BENEFITS

  • Ongoing & Structured Training

  • Measurable Outcomes

  • CERTIFIED Instructors are also working professionals in FILM & TV

  • Internationally recognized certification through the Academy of Dramatic Combat (OPTIONAL)

  • Program developed, supervised and adjudicated by Film & TV Director / HBO Stunt Coordinator John Stead.
